Can someone sell a car without the cosigner?
Joseph Russell
If your credit score has improved since the start of your car loan and you’re ready to upgrade alone, you can trade in or sell the vehicle without the cosigner being present for the title signing. What is a co-borrower on a vehicle?
A co-borrower is part of a joint auto loan in which each party has equal rights to the use and ownership of the vehicle, and responsibilities for the loan. As such, the details of both borrowers are required on the financing application, and will be included on the car’s title.
Does co-borrower have ownership?
A co-borrower is different than a cosigner in that a cosigner takes responsibility for the debt should the borrower default, but does not have ownership in the property. In a loan application with a co-borrower, all of the borrowers responsible for the loan must complete a credit application.

Does a co-borrower need good credit?
Co-borrowers are mainly used in cases where the main borrower has a low debt to income ratio or qualified on their own, but their scores are low, and they need someone with a good credit rating to get a better interest rate.
Can a borrower sue a co signer?
Cosigning for someone doesn’t mean that you give away your legal rights, so you can sue the borrower to recover the money you spent to pay their loan. Even if you win, your court costs may be more than the cost of the loan.
Can co-borrower sell house?
