What is a good sample size for at test?
As a rough rule of thumb, many statisticians say that a sample size of 30 is large enough. If you know something about the shape of the sample distribution, you can refine that rule. The sample size is large enough if any of the following conditions apply. The population distribution is normal.
Is 400 a good sample size?
For most audience research projects, we recommend collecting 400 questionnaires. We are not alone in this general rule of thumb—400 is considered by some researchers (and market researchers in particular) to be the “magic number” in the world of sample sizes.
Is the sample size less than 30?
Sample size calculation is concerned with how much data we require to make a correct decision on particular research. For example, when we are comparing the means of two populations, if the sample size is less than 30, then we use the t-test. If the sample size is greater than 30, then we use the z-test.
What is too small of a sample size?
A sample size that is too small reduces the power of the study and increases the margin of error, which can render the study meaningless. Researchers may be compelled to limit the sampling size for economic and other reasons.
Is 70 a good sample size?
With a total sample size of 70, there is a less than 10% gain in precision when adding further participants to the study size. So in terms of good precision and minimal bias (for a continuous outcome) a total sample size of 70 seems desirable for a pilot study.
Is 30 an acceptable sample size?

If we are using three independent variables, then a clear rule would be to have a minimum sample size of 30.

Why should sample size be 30?
As a general rule, sample sizes equal to or greater than 30 are deemed sufficient for the CLT to hold, meaning that the distribution of the sample means is fairly normally distributed. Therefore, the more samples one takes, the more the graphed results take the shape of a normal distribution.
