What do you enjoy about customer service? It’s important for customer service reps to be empathetic and people-oriented. Good answers might include “I like talking to people and finding out about their lives” or “I love the feeling of helping somebody solve a problem they’re having.”

What did you dislike about your last job?

Answer 1: “I didn’t have enough challenges. After a while, all the projects became repetitive.

    Whether it’s something as small as a warm smile and greeting, or offering them a service they didn’t know about, making a difference in someone’s life is extremely gratifying and is the reason why I love customer service.     With so many stories of bad customer service we hear these days, many people are getting the impression that customer service jobs are entry-level or unimportant roles taken just to get by until a better opportunity. Do you share the same view? I hope, not.

    If the job involves a lot of customer interaction, for example, you want to make sure you mention how much you love working with customers. But make your answer specific, so the interviewer will know you aren’t just making things up:

    What makes you want to be a customer service rep?

    ► Answer 2: I love dealing with customers. I really enjoy the interaction with people and find no problem answering even the most trivial questions. I get a deep sense of satisfaction when solving problems or helping customers out in one way or another.
