The Submission Identification Number, or submission ID, is a unique twenty-digit number that is assigned to tax returns when you transmit them electronically. It’s also sometimes called an MeF submission ID or an e-file confirmation number.

What do I do with the submission ID?
The submission ID is a 20-character string that identifies a MeF e-file submission. It is created when you transmit your return to the IRS or to a state DOR through Drake. When the return is accepted and the acknowledgement processed, the SID becomes part of your local EF database.
How do I find my submission ID?
At the top of the pop up you will see your submission ID. This is the receipt number for your submission, and is the same one which is shown on screen immediately after you have successfully submitted. You are usually also sent this by email.
