Contact your Program Authority if you need advice on your enrolment options. If the failed course is a core course, it must be repeated. Check the timetable for when it is next offered. If you fail the same course more than once, you must seek academic advice from your Program Authority.
What happens if you fail a course at uni?
The failed subject will also be displayed on your transcript and count towards your grade-point average (GPA), which can affect your chances of getting into student exchange or further study (honours programs, for instance). Financially, you will still pay fees for subjects you fail.
What happens to your GPA if you fail a course?
The failing grade will NOT calculate in your GPA, but it will still show on your transcript. On your transcript, an “E” will show to the right of your failing grade to mark the course as “Excluded”. On your transcript, an “I” will show to the right of the second time you took the class, marking it as “Included”.

Companies will not be happy with a fail on your transcript, but they’ll be happy to see you have graduated. Graduating is infinitely better than not graduating. And once you get past your first job, the grades you got will not matter anymore, only the diploma.

At the University of the People, that is tuition-free in the first place, failing a class won’t have such detrimental financial consequences. However, to complete the program, students must retake the course. Any repeated course will appear on a transcript, but only the highest grade will be counted to calculate the cumulative GPA.
