A debit transaction requires the pin while credit does not. The bank charges different rates for debit and credit. The store wants you to use debit because it costs them less, the bank wants you to use credit because they can charge more for the transaction.

Your banker will only ask pin number, when you activate your netbanking using debit card credentials or any other activation on your banks netbanking website to authenticate the customer.
