Students applying for a program that requires more than 18 hours of study in a week require an F1 visa. This includes all undergraduate programs as well as graduate programs like MS, MBA, etc.

This section of the FAQ applies to continuing F-1 students who travel outside the United States for five months or less. Students should consult their Designated School Official (DSO) prior to travelling. Your DSO generally works in the International Student Office.
Can a foreign student work in the United States?
International students are allowed to work in the U.S under the F-1 visa. Foreigners that wish to study in the United States of America as full-time students can do that under the two nonimmigrant visas F-1 and M-1.
